In the Winter of 2015 more than a hundred thousand refugees crossed the Austrian border village of Spielfeld without being checked. Then the government presented its "modern border management system" in a media-friendly manner. But for several months now, not a single refugee has come across the Balkan route into Spielfeld. What is left are deserted refugee tents, an uncompleted fence in the forest and the residents of Spielfeld. How do the residents cope with the fact that their village of 1000 souls became the “playing field” of a hopeless refugee policy?
