Alain Fournier is particularly interested in the supernatural drama genre, where the atmospheres are always a strong feature. His first short film Of Mother and Tides (À Mères et Marées) won several awards (Fantasia, Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival, Festival Off-court Trouville-sur-Mer). Then he directed two short films with puppets : ÖKO (nominated for the 2010 Jutra Award (Quebec, Canada) for Best Animation) and InnerCity (La Cité entre les Murs), nominated for the 32th Genie Award (Best Animation) and winner of several awards, including the Best Animated Short Film at Kaoshiung International Film Festival (Taiwan). Broken Face (Sale Gueule) is his third animation short film.
