The Messina brothers are the founders of Yesmoke, a little tobacco company based in Turin, Italy. Originally Yesmoke was an online store for cheap cigarettes, selling mainly Philip Morris to millions of customers around the world. When sales reached over one hundred million a year, "Big Tobacco" sued them for 550 Million dollars, forcing them to shut their website down. As a result, the two brothers decided to build their own cigarette manufacturing company in the outskirts of Turin, taking up the fight against Philip Morris. But today, the Italian government too and its severe regulations have changed the course of this on-going debate...
Michele Fornasero was born in Turin in 1980. He graduated in Business and Economy from the University of Turin. In 2007 he co-founded the production company Indyca. He took part as producter, editor and director to the realisation of many short films and documentaries such as Frontline is everywhere (2005), Uno scampolo di Paradiso (2008), La leggenda del pesce azzurro (2008), La Paura SiCura (2010). SmoKings is his first documentary as director.
