When you are 3-4 years old, your words are already shaped, you can hear them and reproduce them, even if you can’t fully understand their meaning. But it’s not like this for everyone. Deaf children go to kindergarten “without sound”, “without shaped words”. Ivan and Loriana communicate through “children signs”, their tongue is not agile, it seems a foreign body in their small mouth.
Stefano Cattini (Carpi, Modena, 1966) is a member of the cultural association for the diffusion of the Sequence audiovisual language and belongs to the D.E.R, an association of Documentarists from Emilia Romagna. Amongst his works: “L’ombra della mia casa” (2007: Premio Filmare la storia 2009 – Archivio Nazionale Cinematografico della Resistenza); “Senza occhi, senza croce” (2008), realised with Roberto Galante, and “Amèn” (2009).
