AWARDS

This year the EMM is divided in four sections: Italian Shorts, International Shorts, Documentaries and Animation.
There will be an award for the best work in each category, chosen by two different juries.
There will also be an audience award, given by the spectators that will choose to vote at the end of each evenings.

The best documentary will be chosen by M.B., A.P. e S.V.
The best Italian short and International short will be chosen by M.F., C.M., e A.Z.

The best animation short will be chosen by selected members of EMM association in collaboration with the juries

 

Documentary Competition Jury

Mario Brenta

Mario Brenta, MB is from Venice. He is both film director and cinematography teacher at Padova University collaborating also with a "film lab" he has contributed to start up: Ipotesi Cinema, a school of cinema, founded by Ermanno Olmi.
He is active on both fiction and documentaries and has realized numerous works among which Barnabo delle montagne (2004), Maicol (1988), Robinson in laguna (1985), Jamais de la vie! (1983), Effetto Olmi (1982), Vermisat (1974), all of them obtaining various prizes in the most famous international film festivals. (Cannes, Venezia, Berlino, Locarno e Montréal).
He also works with tv channels like Rai, France2, Arté/ La Sept.

Andrea Prandstraller

Andrea Prandstraller was born in padova in 1959. between 1982 and 1996 he worked as first assistant director in various Italian and international productions along with, among the others, Emidio Greco, Franco Taviani e Francesco Rosi.
He is the director of two short movies: India 21 (1993) and Giochi di società (1996), respectively inserted in the collective films DE-generazione and Intollerance.
Later he devotes himself to art documentaries for Rai Sat Arte and science documentaries for National Geographic.
In the last years he has directed the documentaries Capitani coraggiosi (2000), Donne, gli italiani e le miss (2001) for Rai 3 and Anatomia di un massacro (2005) for History Channel.

Sabrina Varani

Sabrina Varani was born in Rome in 1965. Since 1986 she works in the movie industry as camera assistant and produces two independent documentaries: Toubab and Dannati ad metalla. In 1993 moves to Paris where she works as director of photography in numerous feature films and documentaries, working a lot in Africa. In 1998 goes back to Rome working always as director of photography and collaborating with various authors and directors. She also works as independent film-maker. In 2002 makes Negri de Roma, her third autographed documetary.

 

SHORT COMPETITION JURY

Marco Franzoso

Marco Franzoso was born in Venice in 1965. In 1995 he publishes his short story La guardia   for Transeuropa. In 1996, for the much bigger publisher Einaudi writes, together with Giulio Mozzi, the short story Migrazione. in 1998 he publishes his first novel Westwood dee-jay for Baldini&Castoldi. In 1999 he publishes Una gravidanza serena in the magazine Lo Straniero and Seghe Proustiane in the short stories collection Sconfinare, published by Fernandel. In 2003 he publishes the novel Edisol-M for Marsilio. 2004 is the year of the debut of his westwood dee-jay, adapted for the stage by Roberto Citran. In 2006 another novel Tu non sai cos'è l'amore (published by Marsilio) is already made into a stage play in 2007.

Carlo Montanaro

Carlo Montanaro was born in Burano, one of the islands in the Venice lagoon in 1946. He studies at a Grammar School and after his degree in Architecture, devotes himself to the media industry, especially cinema. He works as assistant director with Luigi Comencini, Tonino Valerii, Folco Quilici, Tinto Brass, Alain Tanner and he works for Rai as a director. He has always collaborated and still collaborates with film festivals like the Venice Biennale, the Art film festival and Artist biographies in Asolo, and le giornate del cinema muto in Pordenone. In 2005 he writes Dall'argento al pixel, a history of cinema techniques, published by Le Mani.
He teaches Theory and Methodology of Mass Media at the Fine Art Academy in Venice.

Antonio Zucconi

Antonio Zucconi lives in Florence where he works as video editor. He has worked on prestigious video collections edited by magazines and newspapers like L'espresso, Il Sole24ore and Il corriere della Sera.
He also makes independent shorts, among which Un giorno o l’altro mi metto in ghingheri (co-direction Micol Bolzonella 2006), Gianfrancomachia (2005), San Luca e signora (2004) e L’invadenza di Azuzl (Co-direction Filippo Fraternali 2004), selected and awarded both in national and international festivals.
San Luca e Signora won the Best Italian Short Award in 2005 at Euganea Movie Movement.
