VILLA BEATRICE D’ESTE
Villa Beatrice, which is located on Mount Gemola, named after a saint, the Blessed Beatrice, lived here between 1221 and 1226. On the site of the house then stood a small monastery, formerly inhabited by hermits, like many others scattered throughout the Middle Ages in the solitude of the Hills.
Beatrice descended by the illustrious House of Este, who, before moving to Ferrara, Este, and had dominion over any part of the Paduan territory. Beatrice took the first votes in the small monastery of Santa Margherita di Salaroli, including Monte Castello Monte Cero and after about a year and a half in 1221, he moved on Gemola readjusting the remains of a primitive monastery with great religious fervor, until the phthisis not led to his death in 1226.
