On May 28th in Brescia, in Piazza della Loggia, a bomb explodes during an election rally. Eight people die. A character, who wanders confused in visionary landscapes with rash movements, says he has witnessed the bombing. He has no voice and his thoughts are hallucinations. In his aimless wanderings he will realise he is one of the victims. The violent death and the undetermined identity of the terrorists will leave him immersed in this limbo.

But he also narrates of his inprisonment in a concentration camp in Germany, his love for mountains and his artistic consecration... in Germany. On the streets of Bologna he reveals, with unusual poetry and tenderness, his uneasiness in a world in which he no longer recognises himself and his need of looking for shelter in the lab, where he finally finds peace.
